The NAACP proudly participated alongside national partners in the launch of the State of the People POWER Tour, an ambitious nationwide initiative focused on building community, sharing resources, and mobilizing citizens for civic engagement.

The tour officially kicked off with its first stop in Atlanta, Georgia — a city rich with civil rights history and a symbol of the movement’s enduring spirit. Leading the charge were National NAACP President Derrick Johnson and Georgia State Conference President Gerald Griggs, who were joined by a coalition of national allies and grassroots activists.

The State of the People POWER Tour is designed to tackle critical issues like voter suppression, economic inequality, and social injustice. Through direct community engagement, the NAACP and its partners are working to equip individuals with the tools, knowledge, and inspiration needed to make lasting change.

At the Atlanta launch, President Griggs emphasized Georgia’s pivotal role in national politics and the ongoing need to protect voting rights. Under his leadership, the Georgia NAACP has been a fierce advocate in legal battles to ensure fair access to the ballot, especially for communities impacted by natural disasters and systemic barriers.

The launch in Atlanta set the tone for what promises to be a powerful, people-driven movement. Through collaboration and collective action, the NAACP and its partners are reaffirming a timeless truth: the power of the people will shape the future.
