The Georgia NAACP partners with Black Voters Matter, Rep Georgia, Georgia Stand Up, ACLU of Georgia, Ben & Jerry's, and BET to launch a State Wide Youth Voter Mobilization Tour. On Friday, September 15, 2022, the tour will kick off on the campus of Albany State University. Ahead of the midterm election, Voting & Civic Engagement groups plan to canvas, organize, and mobilize voters between the ages of 18 to 25 throughout the State of Georgia. The planned stops during the tour include Albany State University, Fort Valley State University, Americus, Barnesville, Griffin, Savannah, and Clark Atlanta University Center.
Georgia State Director of Civic Engagement Amari Fennoy hopes the tour will be an opportunity to speak with voters about the issues and get them engaged ahead of the November 8th election. NAACP Georgia State President Gerald Griggs states, "It's time to speak directly with the voters, especially the young voters about the importance of voting in this election. Justice, Equity, Education, Police Accountability, Jobs, Healthcare, and Economic Empowerment are on the ballot."
The Partners hope to jumpstart voter registration and mobilization akin to the push before the 2020 and 2021 historic elections in Georgia.
