Edward O. DuBose was born in Atlanta Georgia, the third oldest of ten children to Carnell and Margie DuBose.

 

Mr. DuBose received his early education through the Atlanta Public School system, graduating from Harper High School in June 1976. Mr. DuBose joined the United States Army on March 21, 1977, where he would go on to complete 21 years of honorable service, retiring March 21, 1998.

 

Mr. DuBose has an Associate Degree in General Education, an Associate and Baccalaureate degree in Business Administration and a Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. In addition Mr. DuBose is a Licensed Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor, Certified Anger Management Specialist, member of the National Board of Certified Counselors, and a member of the Licensed Professional Counselors Association of Georgia.

Mr. DuBose is also registered as a Neutral with the Georgia Office of Dispute resolution and has received certificates in Civil as well as Family and Domestic Relations Mediation. Mr. DuBose is the Owner of Everlasting Peace Counseling and Consulting services which provides in home counseling to at risk youth and families throughout the state of Georgia and Alabama. Mr. DuBose Consulting and Counseling service also provide such diverse services as Comprehensive Child and Family assessments for children who have been removed from the home to determine best placement, anger management group, and groups on preventing teen pregnancy.

 

As a State Neutral Mr. DuBose provide Civil and Domestic Mediation to clients throughout Georgia concerning issues of Divorce or general settlement disputes. Mr. DuBose serves as a member of the Phenix City Alabama multi-need and multi-disciplinary team and as a member of the Quality Assurance team for Russell County Alabama Department of Human Resources where members of various agencies in the human service field meet to discuss problems, solutions and resources available for special needs children in these communities.

 

Mr. DuBose served Seven years as President of the Columbus Georgia Branch NAACP(June 1997 to January 2005), and five years as 2nd Vice President of the Georgia State Conference NAACP (October 2000 to October 2005). In addition, he served 2 years as Georgia State NAACP Veterans Affairs Chairman (October 1999 to October 2001) and 3 years as District Coordinator (October 1999 to October 2002) for District 21 of the Georgia State Conference NAACP which encompassed 9 counties. Mr. DuBose made history in Columbus during the election on October 11, 2005, by becoming the only resident and NAACP member from Columbus, Georgia to be elected to the office of State President of the Georgia State Conference NAACP. Mr. DuBose made history again on February 21, 2009, during the meeting of the NAACP National Board of Directors in its Centennial year when he became the first Georgia State Conference NAACP President in its 69 year history to be elected to the NAACP National Board of Directors.

 

A few of Mr. Edward DuBose many accomplishments include:

• Negotiated the only NAACP Radio show in Georgia (NAACP TAKE IT TO THE STREET BEAT) - hosted and produced by the NAACP.

• Credited with helping start the first Black History Month Parade in Columbus Georgia.

• Successfully coordinated and conducted the largest protest march in Columbus Georgia History (MLK Holiday observance, January 2005) – rallying over 15,000 people to call for justice for the shooting death of Kenneth Walker.

• Successful under his leadership in assisting Douglas County Georgia Branch NAACP in conducting the first protest March in the county in it’s history rallying over 5000 people which contributed to the freedom from prison of Genarlow Wilson in a National Case that became known as the Douglasville Six.

 

Mr. DuBose has received numerous awards for his work as a Civil Rights leader. Some of these awards include the following:

• Associate Award for Outstanding Service to the Community

Mr. DuBose has committed to leading the State of Georgia “BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY” Utilizing all resources to insure Georgia respect and represent all of its citizen’s Black and White in an equitable manner. Mr. DuBose motto is “If There Is No Enemy on the Inside, the outside Can Do You No Harm”. Mr. DuBose is married to Cynthia DuBose, the first lady of the Georgia State NAACP and his wife of 27 years. They have three beautiful daughters Cynthia Harris, Casonya Hardaway Glover, and Kimberly DuBose.
